Print a free hearts score sheet: the four-player sheet has a hand and a total column for each player, the passing direction for every hand already filled in (left, right, across, hold), and a column to mark who shot the moon. There are also sheets for three, five and six players. Press Print on the one you need, or choose Save as PDF in the print window.
Keep score on your phone instead. The free hearts score keeper adds up the points, scores a moon your table’s way and says who wins. No app to install.
Each sheet prints on one page. Press its Print button, or choose Save as PDF in the print window to keep a copy. Playing online instead? The game keeps the score sheet for you, hand by hand, in its sidebar.
How to fill in a hand
- The Pass column says where the three cards go this hand: Left, Right, Across or Hold (no pass).
- After the hand, write each player’s points in their Hand column: 1 for each heart they took, 13 for the queen of spades.
- Check the count: the hand’s points add up to 26.
- Add each player’s points to their Total.
- Shooting the moon? Write the shooter’s initial in the ☾ column. Score the shooter 0 for the hand, then either 26 for each other player, or 0 for the others and −26 for the shooter, as your table plays it (the moon rules).
- The game ends after the hand in which anyone’s total reaches 100. The lowest total wins. If the lowest is tied, play another hand.
An example line. Hand 1, pass left: Ann took 4 hearts, Ben the queen of spades and 3 hearts, Cal 6 hearts, Dee nothing. Write 4, 16, 6 and 0 in the Hand columns (26 in all), and the same numbers in the Total columns. On hand 2, add the new points to those totals.

Heart: 1 point. Q♠: 13. Each hand: 26 in all. Moon (☾): the shooter scores 0, then +26 to each other player or −26 to the shooter. Game over after the hand in which anyone reaches the target; lowest total wins.
Three players
With three, take the two of diamonds out of the deck and deal 17 cards each; the two of clubs still leads. Pass three cards left, then right, then hold (no pass). Taking out the two of diamonds is Pagat’s and Bicycle’s way; some old books took out the two of spades instead (three-player hearts).

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you keep score in hearts?
After each hand, each player counts 1 point for every heart they took and 13 for the queen of spades, and adds that to their total. The hand's points always add up to 26 unless someone shot the moon. The game ends after the hand in which anyone reaches 100, and the lowest total wins.
How do you write down a moon on a hearts score sheet?
Write the shooter's initial in the moon column. Then score the moon the way your table plays it: either 26 for each other player and 0 for the shooter, or 0 for the others and minus 26 for the shooter.
Is there a hearts score sheet for three players?
Yes. The three-player sheet is on this page. With three players, take the two of diamonds out of the deck and deal 17 cards each; the passing cycle is left, right, then no pass.
