Enter each player's points after each hand (1 a heart, 13 for the queen of spades) and the score keeper keeps the totals, scores a moon your table's way, and says who wins. It saves the game in your browser.

House rules:

Changing a rule rescores every hand already entered. What these rules mean.

Hand 1

Enter each player's points: 1 for each heart they took, 13 for the queen of spades. They add up to 26.

How the score keeper scores a hand

  • Points: each player scores 1 for every heart they took and 13 for the queen of spades. A hand’s points add up to 26, and the score keeper checks that before it adds the hand.
  • Shooting the moon: pick the player who took all 13 hearts and the queen. They score nothing for the hand, and then, by this site’s rule, they choose: 26 for each other player, or 26 off their own score. The option that’s better for the shooter is marked: adding, unless that would end the game with someone else lower than the shooter. The house rules can make it always +26, always −26, or always the better option. Shooting the moon explains each.
  • The jack of diamonds: with the J♦ switch on, pick who took the jack, and 10 comes off their points. A moon is still all the hearts and the queen.
  • Winning: the game ends after the hand in which anyone reaches the target (100, 75 or 50). The lowest score wins. If two players are tied for lowest, the score keeper tells you to play another hand, or shares the win if your table plays that way.
  • Exactly on the target: with that switch on, a score that lands exactly on the target goes back to half of it.

These are the same rules and the same scoring as the game on this site. The house rules page explains each switch, and the score sheets are there if you’d rather use paper.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the score keeper score shooting the moon?

Choose the player under Shot the moon. With the standard rule, the shooter then picks: 26 added to each other player, or 26 taken off their own score; the score keeper marks the option that's better for the shooter. You can set the house rules to always add 26, always subtract 26, or pick the better option automatically.

Can I use it for three, five or six players?

Yes. Choose the number of players under House rules. Each hand still has 26 points in it, and the pass direction is shown for three, four and five players.

Is my score saved?

Yes. It's stored in your browser on this device, and nothing is sent anywhere. Press New game to clear it.
